Reconstructive Kinesiology (RK)
Is a muscle-based technique used for decreasing nagging aches and pains while increasing mobility. Haven’t heard of it?? That is because Dr. Scott is the innovator of this technique. RK provides balance and harmony to the structure of the human body which in turn allows the body to function at its highest capacity. This balance is done by evaluation of the muscular system. Muscles move bones; bones don’t move muscles. The previous ideal is the basis of proper kinesiology, study of human movement. RK evaluates both the structure and function of each individual on both the left and right sides. Imbalances in the musculature cause binding in the joints and thus an unsound structure which leads to decreased function and those aches and pains that hinder everyday life. Example: Hamstrings tend to be one of the most unbalanced muscle in the body and also the most underdeveloped as we age. One tight hamstring causes the pelvis to be contorted and thus a torque is developed in the low back and pelvic areas. The result: Low Back Pain, Sciatica, Hip Pain, Leg Pain, Restless Leg Syndrome, etc. Now we need to know that not all will occur at the same and might take years to come on. But any of these problems can never be completely resolved without balancing the muscles, hamstrings in this case. How does RK work?
Reconstructive Kinesiology (RK) is based on years of training, education and case study in the health field at various levels. The principles of some natural healing arts are encompassed in this technique: Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Stress Management, Exercise, Nutritional Supplementation, and Detoxification. RK involves no popping or cracking. Each person is taken through a series of muscle tests and range of motion exams. Postural and gate analysis along with body composition are also evaluated. The basis of the program is a combination of passive and active stretching to release the muscle(s) causing the problem(s). The muscle(s) is then strengthened properly once the binding has been released to ensure stable structure and proper function of the joint. The release and strengthening provides harmony amongst the joints of the body and thus lasting results of pain relief and increased mobility. Each person is then given direction on exercises and stretches to complete in order to keep the muscles at this level.
Reconstructive Kinesiology (RK) is not just for what we see in the mirror; muscles and structure. RK looks at the body as a whole; from the cellular level all the way up to the muscles and skin. As we age our metabolism and overall body chemistry tends to slow down and become full of free radicals. This is a direct link to some, if not most, of the diseases our population deals with. In the past several years we have seen an increase in disease. The main culprit in this increase is stagnation of bodily movement, even at the
cellular level. Stagnation leads to a pooling effect which in turn leads to inflammation. Inflammation is one of the first steps of disease. RK uses a variety of vitamins and minerals along with antioxidants. The use of antioxidants cleans the internal system of free radicals and toxic substances thus allowing the systems of the body to work at a more efficient rate. Certain antioxidants have been shown to be able to reduce the level of inflammation as well. The use of vitamins and minerals provide the needed nutrition for all tissues of the human body to function at the highest level. RK also looks at hydration levels as most of us are living in a dehydrated state. Our body is nearly 75% water and any level less than that can cause decreased function at the cellular level which in turn transcends a decreased function to the level of the muscles and other tissues. Hydration levels are determined by using the science of Bio-electrical Impedance. Once the level of hydration is determined, suggestion are made as to getting the individual back to a proper level. Proper hydration will help to eliminate toxic substances and also decrease the level of stagnation of bodily fluids, thus aiding in the decrease of the disease state of the body.
